The Nasdaq Stock Market® yesterday had its largest point increase ever, with preliminary figures showing the Nasdaq Composite® Index rising 127.30 points to 3911.17. The previous point-gain record was set on September 3, 1999, with the Composite Index rising 108.87 points. It was the first time the Composite Index closed above both the 3800 and 3900 marks.

However, the market moved at a faster pace with the volume and value of trades increasing by 77% and 40% respectively.
