Copper futures trading set a daily volume record on the New York Mercantile Exchange yesterday when 35,444 contracts were traded, surpassing the previous record of 35,168 contracts traded on June 25, 1999.

The Nasdaq Stock Market® announced today that it experienced its heaviest trading session ever, with preliminary figures showing more than 2.078 billion shares changed hands. All of Nasdaq's top ten share volume days have occurred this year with year-to-date daily share volume averaging 1.724 billion shares.

E-mini S&P 500 Sets Volume Record

Volume in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's E-mini S&P 500 futures contract reached a record 82,817 contracts Feb. 28, as electronically traded volume in all equity index products rose to a record 114,439 contracts.

CME Expands Daily Price Limit On Nikkei 225 Index

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has expanded the daily price limit for its Nikkei 225 index contracts to 1,500 index points effective with the start of trading tomorrow, March 1.

CLEARNET SBF SA Closer To Becoming Central Counterparty For Trades In Italian Government Securities.

CLEARNET SBF SA, the central counterpart and netting organisation for regulated and OTC markets in France, is set to become the clearing house for MTS cash trades in Italian government debt. CLEARNET will also be clearing MTS sell/buy backs in Italian government debt.

Central Bank Of Iceland Weekly Repo Auction

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on February 29 of the standard maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.1 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 14.3 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

Bahrain Stock Exchange Weekly Market Report

Last week the index dropped to its lowest level since September 1997. The market experienced another lackluster week characterised with thin volumes. Sydney Futures Exchange Clearing House Implements An Exchange Settlement Account

Today, Monday 28 February 2000, the Sydney Futures Exchange Clearing House (SFECH) successfully implemented an Exchange Settlement Account (ESA) with the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). SFECH has received the first such approval under the RBA's new access arrangements.
