FTSE And Xinhua Join Forces To Provide China indices

FTSE, the global index provider, has signed an agreement with Xinhua Financial News in Hong Kong to create a joint venture company to facilitate the creation of a series of real time indices for use by the international investment community and the Chinese investment community. The new company will be called FTSE/Xinhua Index Limited (FXIL).

Copenhagen Stock Exchange: The Calculation Of Futop Expiration Prices Has Been Changed

Pursuant to the new rules the calculation of average prices - used to calculate the expiration prices - is now based on all system-generated transactions within the fixed expiration period, cf. Rule 4.2 of the Guidelines for the publication of real-time trading information and calculation of prices, etc for the SAXESS trading system.

CME S&P 500 Open Interest Surges Past 550,000 For First Time - E-mini S&P 500 And MidCap 400 Continue To Set Open Interest Records

For the eighth consecutive session, open interest in S&P 500 Index futures traded on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) has continued to surge, reaching a record 563,141 positions at the close of trading on Wednesday. The new record surpasses the previous day's record of 546,909 positions culminating in a 14 percent increase in open interest since Dec. 4 when 494,331 positions were open at the close of trading.

The Mercado a Término de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires Futures Exchange) traded 18,898 contracts in November 2000 compared to a figure of 16,644 contracts in November 1999. Total volume for the first eleven months of 2000 was 221,831 contracts, compared to 209,193 contracts in 1999.

Turnover for November was EUR 76,846.1 million. This compares to EUR 70,237.9 million in October. Domestic turnover in November was EUR 71,695.7 million, foreign turnover EUR 3,698.7 million, Nuovo Mercato, Domestic, EUR 1,322.0 million, Nuovo Mercato, Foreign, EUR 71.7 million and on the Ristretto market EUR 57.9 million. Turnover for the period January to November 2000 was EUR 812,058.3 million.

Samas And Euronext Resolve Dispute On Protective Preference Shares

Samas Groep N.V. and Euronext Amsterdam N.V. have announced that it has been agreed that Stichting Samas will limit its voting rights in the protective preference shares placed with it to 50% of the other share capital that has already been issued. MSCI China Free Index Futures And Options To Be Developed By HKEX

Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), and MSCI, a leading provider of global indices and benchmark related products, today announced that the MSCI China Free IndexSM has been licensed for use by the HKEx Derivatives Market. The licence permits HKEx to develop futures and options contracts based on the MSCI China Free Index.
