OM Stockholm Exchange changes rules for Attract 40 prior to half-year review

Date 12/12/2000

On July 3 this year the OM Stockholm Exchange introduced the new Attract 40 sector into the exchange's O-list. During the course of the autumn the trading pattern of the O-list changed, which under the original rules would mean that only 12 companies have qualified for inclusion in the sector. For this reason the rules for the Attract 40 sector are being changed.

We introduced Attract40 in order to provide foreign investors and Swedish share savers with the opportunity to find interesting growth companies, quickly and easily. We can now confirm that many investors are concentrating their activities on companies in the A-list and only on a small number of O-list companies, explains Simon Nathanson, OM Stockholm Exchange's acting President.

The original rule stating that companies will only be included if they have a turnover rate twice that of the average for the whole exchange, has been changed. With effect from the first half of 2001, in addition to those companies that qualify by fulfilling the requirement of being among the "most actively traded" on the A-list, those 40 companies with the highest turnover rate on the O-list will also qualify for inclusion in the sector. With this new rule the number of companies included in the sector will always be at least 40.

During the first six months of next year 46 companies will be included in the Attract40 sector (see separate fact sheet). Prior to the end of each six-month period the composition of the sector will be changed and will thus be a reflection of those companies that have been of interest during those preceding six months.
