    Officials from Fannie Mae® and Freddie Mac®joined Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) officials today to ring a ceremonial bell initiating trading in the CME's new 5- and 10-year agency note futures. The agency note futures contracts are based on Freddie Mac's Reference Notes and Fannie Mae's Benchmark Notes. The two agencies are the nation's largest home funding companies.   • Central Bank Of Iceland Weekly Repo Auction

    The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on March 14 of the standard maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.1 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 7.4 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

    The average daily turnover for the 19 trading days in February was HKD 22,088 million, an increase of 26 per cent compared with the previous month and 600 per cent as compared with the HKD 3,153 million in February 1999. Total turnover value for the month was HKD 419,666 million compared with HKD 367,325 million last month and HKD 53,606 million in February 1999.
