    The New York Stock Exchange has signed an agreement with Dow Jones Indexes, a unit of Dow Jones & Co. (NYSE:DJ), to develop and maintain a family of indexes, the first of which is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2002. The collaboration marks a significant step towards the creation of a diversified family of NYSE-branded indexes. Robert Collins, Jr. will be available to answer questions regarding energy market performance and regulation in the face of the Enron collapse immediately following Mr. Viola's testimony before the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on the "Impact of Enron Collapse on Energy Markets." The hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:30, on Tuesday, January 29.

    Based upon the January 28th market close in the February 2002 expiration, the Chicago Board of Trade 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is currently pricing in a 6 percent probability that the Federal Open Market Committee will lower the federal funds target rate by at least 25 basis points from 1-3/4 percent to 1-1/2 percent at the FOMC meeting on January 29-30 (versus a 94 percent probability of no rate cut).

    Based upon the January 25th market close in the February 2002 expiration, the Chicago Board of Trade 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is currently pricing in an 8 percent probability that the Federal Open Market Committee will lower the federal funds target rate by at least 25 basis points from 1-3/4 percent to 1-1/2 percent at the FOMC meeting on January 29-30 (versus a 92 percent probability of no rate cut).
