  • U.S. Equity Options Volume For First Half Of 2000 Outpaces Record Year

    The Options Industry Council (OIC) has announced that equity options volume for the first six months of 2000 has surpassed the same period in 1999, a record trading year for the options industry, by nearly 68 percent. During the first half of 2000, the nation's options exchanges traded a total of 329,610,902 equity option contracts, compared to 196,340,478 contracts during the first half of 1999.

  • Pacific Exchange To Pay For Options Order Flow - West Coast Mart Unveils Quality Of Execution Reports

    The Pacific Exchange (PCX) has announced that it will be launching a program to pay brokerage firms for orders sent to its San Francisco options trading floor. The Exchange also unveiled a new "master execution report (or "quality of execution report")," that will provide firms the most comprehensive information available on every order sent to the PCX.

    The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) has reported a new total options volume record of 50,620 calls and puts on July 18, 2000. This eclipses the previous record of 47,909 on June 2, 2000.

    The Board of Directors of the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT®) has appointed Matt Gordon to the position of Senior Vice President, Market Development effective July 10, 2000.     Computershare and the Pacific Exchange (PCX) have announced an agreement to develop an electronic, screen-based trading system for equity options and other derivatives. The new system is expected to be launched in the first half of 2001.
