The Central Bank Of Iceland Auctions Repurchase Agreements For ISK 30.1 Billion

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on August 21 of the maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.9 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 30.1 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

Nasdaq Reports Second Quarter Net Income Of $19.6 Million

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq®), today reported net income of $19.6 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2001, compared to net income of $45.3 million for the second quarter of 2000. Diluted earnings per share were $0.16 compared to $0.45 for the second quarter of 2000. Annualized return on average stockholders' equity was 12.7% for the second quarter.

CFTC and SEC Adopt Joint Rules And Issue Joint Order Relating To Trading of Security Futures Products In The United States

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today announced that they adopted the first joint rules to permit the trading of security futures products in the United States. These rules implement provisions of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 (CFMA) that lift the 19-year ban on the trading of single-stock and narrow-based stock index futures in this country.

Amendments To The GEM Listing Rules To Deal With Conflicts

A new Chapter 36 has been introduced into the GEM Listing Rules to deal with conflicts of interest between the Exchange and persons whom the Exchange regulates in relation to GEM. The SFC, HKEx and the Exchange have also replaced the memorandum of understanding dated 19 June 2000 with a new memorandum of understanding that covers GEM listing matters.

NYSE Announces First-Half 2001 Financial Results

The New York Stock Exchange reported revenues of $444.7 million and net income of $41.7 million in the first six months of 2001, as compared with $394.9 million in revenue and $47.3 million in net income during the same period a year ago.
