I'd like to thank the Economic Club of New York for the invitation to speak today. This is my first time speaking in my new capacity as a member of the Federal Reserve Board. As such, I would like to be transparent on my thinking. Subsequent to last week's meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), it should be clear that my view of appropriate monetary policy diverges from those of other FOMC members; I view policy as very restrictive, believe it poses material risks to the Fed's employment mandate, and would like to explain why.

CFTC Staff Extends No-Action Position For Certain Package Transactions From The Trade Execution Requirement For Swaps

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Division of Market Oversight today extended its no-action positions in CFTC Letter No. 22-15 regarding swaps executed as part of package transactions where at least one individual swap component is subject to the trade execution requirement under Commodity Exchange Act Section 2(h)(8), and all other components are futures contracts (MAT/Futures Package Transactions).

Euronext, the leading European capital market infrastructure, introduces the first ever mini-sized, cash-settled futures on the main European government bonds, marking a significant innovation in the financial derivatives space. This initiative leverages Euronext’s leading position in the fixed income secondary trading ecosystem through MTS, its platform for institutional bond trading, and its retail-focused MOT bond market. This launch marks the first step in Euronext’s ambition to develop further into the fixed income derivatives space, with the aim of bringing added-value to investors internationally.

Global Markets React To Fed Signals As FTSE Mondo Visione Index Dips Slightly In August

Global markets experienced a nuanced month in August, buoyed by signals from the Federal Reserve regarding potential monetary policy easing. Fed Chair Jerome Powell's statement at the Jackson Hole conference, coupled with weaker-than-expected July non-farm payroll figures, suggested a possible September rate cut.
Despite these signals, the FTSE Mondo Visione Index, which tracks the performance of publicly traded exchanges, saw a slight decline, falling 0.7% in August.& -
