Michael E. Horowitz Appointed Inspector General For The Federal Reserve Board And Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Michael E. Horowitz has been appointed to lead the Federal Reserve Board's Office of Inspector General (OIG) effective June 30, 2025. By statute, the Federal Reserve's OIG also serves in that same role for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), an agency financed by, but autonomous from, the Federal Reserve. The OIG is tasked with making recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the agencies, as well as preventing and detecting waste, fraud, and abuse.

Ontario Securities Commission Joins International Regulators For Global Week Of Action Against Unlawful Finfluencers

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) joined regulators from across the globe this week to crack-down on unauthorised finfluencers who are putting millions of social media users at risk by touting financial products or services illegally. The ‘Global Week of Action Against Unlawful Finfluencers’ involved regulators using a combination of tools and interventions, including in-person warnings delivered with law enforcement, interviews, evidence gathering, educational outreach, and consumer awareness programs to prevent people from investing after encountering misleading content.

Today, I will describe my approach to leading the Fed's Division of Supervision and Regulation in its vital work to promote the safe and sound operation of the U.S. banking system.
