Philadelphia Stock Exchange Continues to Set Equity and Options Volume Significant Growth in Options Market Share

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that equity options volume for the month of October 2000 set a new monthly volume record of 9,329,998 contracts traded, a 160 percent increase over the same month last year when 3,578,644 contracts changed hands. In addition, year-to-date equity options volume set a new record of 54,892,004 contracts traded. Euronext Amsterdam: Trading In Shares And Equity Options Doubles

October saw extremely high trading volumes on Euronext Amsterdam’s stock and derivatives markets. Turnover in shares on the stock market peaked at euro 141 billion, twice as much as in October 1999. So far this year, share trading is 73% higher than in the same period last year. Trading volumes have also shown a sharp increase. In October alone, a million more transactions were conducted than in the same month last year.

The Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) today announced another robust month of volume in October. Total trade volume for the month finished at 6,036,257, an increase of 126 percent over October 1999, while share volume reached 2,605,069,368, up 90 percent from last October.
