Futures & Options On Russian Trading System: August Market Data

In July 2002, 51.4 thousand trades were executed on FORTS (Futures &Options on RTS), down from 61.7 thousand trades in July. Trading volume equaled 2.1 million contracts or 7.2 billion rubles in underlying value. The month of July showed 2.33 million contracts and 8.5 billion rubles in underlying value.

Eurex, the international derivatives market, traded and cleared 68.5 million contracts in August. Deutsche Börse: 241 Billion Euros in Turnover on the German Stock Exchanges in August

Based on the aggregate turnover statistics, a total volume of 241 billion euros was traded on the German stock exchanges in August ? about 27 percent less than in the previous month (July 2002: 328 billion euros). The August total comprises 178 billion euros in equities, warrants and exchange-traded funds as well as 63 billion euros in fixed-income securities. There were a total of 5.3 million trades on Xetra in August (July 2002: 6.5 million trades).

UAE Bourse Rallies

After several days of decline the UAE bourse rallied on Wednesday to close up 10.7 points at 2,183.58 with financial services leading the upturn. Mashreqbank and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank trading volumes were high. However, activity in Emaar Properties sank after excitement over its interim dividend payment wained.
