Wick Simmons Assumes Chairmanship Of Nasdaq

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc., today announced that its Board of Directors officially named Chief Executive Officer Hardwick "Wick" Simmons Nasdaq's new Chairman. He succeeds Frank G. Zarb in that role. Simmons will also retain his position as Chief Executive Officer. Zarb will remain as a Senior Advisor. Zarb continues as chairman of Nasdaq Europe. This completes a management transition plan that had been announced in July.

Relocation Of SEC Northeast Regional Office

Today the Securities and Exchange Commission signed an agreement to lease replacement space for its Northeast Regional Office. The replacement space for the SEC office, formerly located at 7 World Trade Center and destroyed in the September 11th attack, will be located in the historic Woolworth Building at 233 Broadway. This location provides a long-term lease of approximately 140,000 rentable square feet and will continue the SEC's tenancy and presence in New York City's financial district.

Record Turnover At EEX With 742,800 Mwh On Tuesday - New Record In Futures Market On Wednesday - Simulation For Trading In Three-Month Futures Starts November 8

EEX European Energy Exchange set a new record in turnover for exchange-based electricity trading on Tuesday: A total of 742,800 MWh was traded in the integrated electricity market, as EEX reported on Wednesday. With high volume of 42,284 MWh traded in the spot market, the futures market volume of 700,000 MWh was decisive for the record total.
