CBOE Closed On Friday June 11; OEX Exercises Not Allowed

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), as previously announced, will be closed on Friday, June 11, 2004 in honor of the National Day of Mourning for former President Ronald Reagan. Therefore, Exercise Notices on American-style, cash-settled index option classes, such as the S&P 100 index options ("OEX"), will not be accepted, and are prohibited.

The California Department of Corporations yesterday approved applications of the Pacific Exchange (PCX) for its demutualization proposal. On 7 June, 2004, the National Depositary Center began to implement the new scheme of the depositary service of the eurobonds of the Russian Federation. The core of the new scheme is the account opened with Clearsteram Banking in the name of the MICEX Settlement House for the purpose of keeping eurobonds to be traded on the MICEX for rubles.

Securities Industry Association Backs SEC Reforms To Promote Transparency, Efficiency In SRO Rule-Making

The Securities Industry Association told the Securities and Exchange Commission that it supports reforms that make the rule-making process by the self-regulatory organizations more transparent and efficient. The SEC’s changes include mandating electronic filing by SROs to the commission, requiring Web site posting of all SRO proposals one business day after filing with the commission, and maintaining a current, complete version of an SRO’s rules on i
