  • Clearstream Strongly Rejects False Allegations In French Media

    Clearstream has strongly rejected recent media reports misrepresenting the company's business activities and regards all allegations as false. The company restated that it has supported the investigations French authorities have conducted against third parties in the context of the so called "Affaire des Frégates". None of the allegations are directed against Clearstream.

  • CFTC Announces Resignation Of Chairman James E. Newsome

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today the resignation of Chairman James E. Newsome, effective July 23, 2004. Newsome has served as Chairman of the CFTC since December 2001. Prior to his appointment by President George W. Bush and his subsequent confirmation by the Senate, he served as Acting Chairman of the agency, beginning in January 2001, and as a Commissioner, beginning in August 1998.

    Based upon the figures until the end of June 2004, Euronext Brussels communicates the new monthly selection list for the BEL20® index. The first three reserve candidates are Tessenderlo, CMB and Deceuninck. This list is valid for replacements that would occur from Friday 16 July 2004 up to and including Friday 13 August 2004 after trading hours. This list is also available on the Euronext website:

  • Adjustment To ICEX Share Indices Due To Pre-emptive Right Issues

    ICEX has in the past not adjusted its share indices when companies have decided to issue new shares with pre-emptive rights for existing shareholders. Such issues have been rare and not adjusting the indices has therefore been of no practical importance. After considering the matter carefully ICEX has decided to make a change in this practice consistent with the practice in many other countries.

  • UK’s Financial Services Authority Investigation Into Trading In Marks & Spencer Plc Shares And Derivatives

    On 28 May 2004, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) announced that it was reviewing trading in the securities of Marks & Spencer Group and related derivative instruments prior to the announcement, on May 27 2004, of a possible offer for the company by Revival Acquisitions.
