RTS Stock Exchange Bonds: Weekly Market Data

For the week of September 8th- September 12th, 2003, total volume on the RTS Bonds, the system facilitating trading in corporate, governmental, municipal debt, and Eurobonds, reached 22 020 thousand rubles, compared with 6 608 thousand rubles the week before. Six trades were registered, up from 3 trades the previous week.

NASD Alerts Investors Of The Risks Associated With Using Margin To Purchase Securities

NASD today issued an Investor Alert to inform investors on the risks of trading securities "on margin." NASD issued the Alert because investor purchases of securities on margin have grown dramatically, reaching $174 billion in July, and many investors may underestimate the risks associated with trading on margin and misunderstand margin calls and how their holdings can be liquidated.

Ljubljana Stock Exchange Monthly Statistical Report August 2003

Turnover The total turnover on all market segments of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) in August 2003 amounted to SIT 26.9 billion, which was 18.8% more than the previous month , and 4.4% more than this year's monthly average. In comparison to August 2002, turnover decreased by 29.6%, or by SIT 11.3 billion.

IPE Announces The Introduction Of Parallel Trading For Its Brent Contract

The IPE, Europe's leading energy futures and options exchange, today gave three weeks' notice of the introduction of parallel trading for its Brent Crude futures contract. This means that IPE Brent Crude futures will be traded both open outcry and electronically, side by side, from Monday 6 October 2003.

For the week of September 8th-September 12th, 2003, total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on the RTS) reached 580 thousand contracts and 4 973 million rubles, compared with 596 thousand contracts and 5 105 million rubles. Total open interest as of September 12th, 2003, equaled 3 830 million rubles and 514 thousand contracts (as of September 5th, 2003, the numbers were 4 086 million rubles and 533 thousand contracts).
