Record Volume Day For SFE 30 Day Interbank Cash Rate Futures

On 10 September 2004 Sydney Futures Exchange experienced the largest transaction volumes on record for the SFE 30 Day Interbank Cash Rate Futures contracts. The total volume for the day was 12,643, up 8% compared to the previous record of 11,665 contracts set on August 4, 2004. Open interest in the contract is currently at 55,351 contracts.

Rebalancing For S&P Asia 50 Index

Standard & Poor's announces that the quarterly share rebalancing and the annual IWF rebalancing for the S&P Asia 50 will be effective after the close of trading October 8, 2004. This is a one time change from the usual date of rebalancing on the third Friday of September to allow for the larger changes proposed.

More Companies Join FTSE4Good Index Series

Results of the latest FTSE4Good index review are released today by global index provider, FTSE Group. A total of 79 new companies worldwide have met the SRI index criteria and will be added to the index series at close of business on Friday 17 September. 23 companies will be deleted from the index on the same day as they no longer meet these criteria.

For the week of September 6th – September 10th, total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on the RTS) increased by 41% in rubles and 33% in contracts and reached 7 375 million rubles and 918 thousand contracts. Total open interest as of September 10th, 2004, increased by 12% in rubles and 9% in contracts and equaled 8 354 million rubles and 1 065 thousand contracts.

European Climate Exchange Launches Pan-European Emissions Contracts - First Quoted And Cleared Market For European Carbon Spot And Futures Contracts

At the international derivatives conference in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, the world financial community was today (Thursday 9 September) introduced to the European Climate Exchange (ECX) futures and cash contracts for EU carbon dioxide emission allowances - the first quoted and cleared market for European emissions contracts.

CME Foreign Exchange Futures Sets New Electronic Trading Volume Record as More Than $27 Billion In Contracts Trade - Milk Options Also Reach New Volume High

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME), the largest U.S. futures exchange and the largest regulated foreign exchange marketplace, announced that on Friday, September 10 the exchange set a new trading volume record of 217,683 contracts in its electronic foreign exchange (eFX) market. Friday’s volume was up 4% from the previous eFX volume record of 209,378 set on June 9, 2004. The notional – or face – value of the contracts traded on Friday was $27 billion.
