Standard & Poor’s Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Pursuant to quarterly rebalancing methodology, Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index effective after the close of trading on Friday, July 16, 2004. As of the close of trading on Thursday, July 8, 2004, the index was comprised of 494 companies. A total of 40 companies will be removed from the index and 85 new companies will be added. The revised index will therefore be made up of 539 companies.

London Stock Exchange Monthly Market Report For June - SETS Volumes Continue To Rise

The average daily number of trades on SETS, the London Stock Exchange’s electronic order book, was 143,817 in June 2004, an increase of 14 per cent on the daily average for the same month last year. During the same period, the average daily value traded on the order book rose 13 per cent to £3.1 billion. The value of an average SETS trade remained broadly unchanged at £21,834, as did the number of trades required to fill an order, which averaged 1.63.
