VPS And Oslo Børs Have Terminated Their Discussions On A Possible Merger
VPS Holding ASA and Oslo Børs Holding ASA have held discussions over some time with a view to a merger of the two entities. Reference is made in particular to the joint press release of 21 November 2003. The background for this was a wish to evaluate the overall effects of an integration of this part of the securities value chain in Norway without creating any obstacles to either party's individual participation in international collaboration or integration projects.

Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In S&P/TSX Canadian Indices
Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes effective after the close of business on Wednesday, January 13, 2004: The relative weight of H&R REIT (TSX:HR.UN - GICS 40401010 Real Estate Investment Trusts) will increase by approximately 0.06% in the S&P/TSX Capped Income Trust Index and by 0.35% in the S&P/TSX Capped REIT Index. The relative weight change reflects an adjustment to the float capitalization of the trust due to the issuance of units.

RTS Stock Exchange Order-Driven Market: Weekly Market Data January 5th - January 9th, 2004
For the period of January 5th - January 9th, 2004, the total trading volume of direct and indirect transactions (including REPO transactions) equaled 5 493 million rubles, compared with 6 834 million for the week of December 22nd - December 26th, 2003. Internet trading accounted for 27% of total trading volume, down from 25% the week before. 8 410 transactions were executed, up from 5 614 transactions the week before.

Professor Niels Thygesen Appointed As Chairman Of MTS S.p.A. - Professor Alexandre Lamfalussy Assumes Honorary Chair Of MTS Scientific Committee
MTS S.p.A. is pleased to announce the appointment of Niels Thygesen as the Chairman of MTS S.p.A. and Chairman Elect of EuroMTS Limited. He succeeds Alexandre Lamfalussy who retired December 19, having served as Chairman of EuroMTS and subsequently of MTS S.p.A. from January 7, 1999. Professor Lamfalussy retains his academic role within MTS with his appointment as Honorary Chair of the MTS Scientific Committee.

Korea Stock Exchange: Exchange Consolidation Bill Passed
The National Assembly passed a Securities and Futures Exchange Consolidation Bill on Thursday, January 8, 2004. This means that the integration of three exchanges in Korea, i.e., Korea Stock Exchange, Korea Futures Exchange, and KOSDAQ Stock Market, will pick up its pace.
