USDA BSE Update - January 9, 2004
USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has submitted three rules and one notice for publication in the Federal Register on Monday, January 12, 2003. The rules and notice are: An interim final rule declaring that the Specified Risk Materials, the skull, brain, trigeminal ganglia, eyes, vertebral column, spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia of cattle 30 months of age or older, and the small intestine of all cattle are prohibited in the food supply. (Tonsils were already excluded)

RTS Stock Exchange Index Calculation Methodology Changes
At its December 19th, 2003, meeting the RTS Board of Directors has approved the new method of the RTS Index Calculation that will take effect as of January 5th, 2004. The new methodology specifies criteria for selecting transactions used in Index calculation.

Official Start Of The Internet SEM-ON.NET Portal Of The South-Eastern Europe Stock Exchanges
On Tuesday, 7th October 2003, the Ljubljana Stock Exchange witnessed the inauguration of the new sem-on.net internet portal established as part of the Information Integration of the Stock Exchanges of SE Europe Project, by the Ljubljana Stock Exchange. A three-year venture starting in 2002 is being implemented within the European Stability Pact, and focuses on the creation of organisation and infrastructure to enable informing and collecting of information about the capital markets on the region

London Stock Exchange Monthly Market Report For December 2003 - Strong December For SETS Trades
The number of trades on SETS™, the London Stock Exchange's electronic order book, increased to 2.67 million (of which 131,884 were trades on SETSmm™) in December 2003, a rise of 35 per cent on the number of trades in December 2002. The value traded on SETS during the month was £53.2 billion (of which £1.6 billion was for trades on SETSmm), up from £40.2 billion in December 2002. The average daily number of trades on SETS was 127,224 up from 98,718 in December 2002.

Instinet Announces Stock Migration Schedule
Instinet Group Incorporated (NASDAQ: INGP) today announced the implementation schedule for the rollout of securities that will complete the on-going consolidation of Instinet ECN and Island ECN books into a single liquidity pool branded INET. As a result, customers of Instinet, the Institutional Broker, will have the ability to trade these securities on the company's Continuous Block Crossing (CBX) and Proactive SmartRouter Technology.
