HKEx’s Derivatives Market Gets Strong Support From Retail And Institutional Investors

Retail investors, institutional investors and Exchange Participants’ principal trading remained the three main pillars of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited’s (HKEx) derivatives market turnover with a high degree of participation from overseas investors, according to a 2003/04 survey by HKEx.

Eurex Turnover Year-To-Date Has Already Surpassed 2003 Turnover - Average Daily Trading Volume In December 35 Percent Above December 2003 Figures

On Tuesday, 16 trading days before year end, Eurex achieved a new record in annual trading volume and has already surpassed total trading volume of 2003. As of December 7, 1,015.369.670 contracts where traded on the world’s largest derivatives exchange. In 2003 Eurex traded a total of 1,014.801.122 contracts. Average daily trading volume in December has increased some 35 percent, or 1.59 million contracts, to reach 6.10 million contracts, compared with 4.52 million contracts in December 2003.

Copenhagen Stock Exchange: New Portfolio Selected For Midcap+ And Smallcap+

The Exchange has just selected the shares to be included in the future MidCap+ and SmallCap+ portfolios, which will be effective from 1 January until end-June 2005. The number of companies having qualified for the plus segments in the coming six-month period remains unchanged at 63.

CBOT Precious Metals Complex Sets New Volume Records

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today that the exchange’s 100 percent electronic Precious Metals complex rose to a new volume record of 12,240 contracts on December 8, 2004, eclipsing the previous all-time high of 9,191 contracts set on December 2. Within the complex, CBOT full-sized Gold futures set a new volume record as well.

CBOE Board Of Directors Announces 2005 Vice Chairman; Edward T. Tilly To Serve Second Consecutive Term

The Board of Directors of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that Edward T. Tilly will serve as vice chairman of the Chicago Board Options Exchange in 2005. Mr. Tilly, the current CBOE vice chairman and a member of the board of directors, will serve his second one-year term as vice chairman.
