Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In S&P/TSX Canadian Indices

Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes: Gold Fields Limited (NYSE:GFI) has completed the acquisition of Western Areas Limited (JSE:WARJ). The relative weight of Gold Fields Limited will increase in the S&P/TSX Global Gold Index to reflect the issuance of shares as part of the transaction, which will be effective after the close of Tuesday, February 13, 2007.

The Securities and Exchange Commission filed settled securities fraud charges against RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. (RenRe), a property catastrophe reinsurance company, for creating a sham reinsurance transaction that had no economic substance and no purpose other than to smooth and defer over $26 million of earnings from 2001 to 2002 and 2003. Electronic soft commodity futures trading at theNew York Board of Trade (NYBOT), subsidiary of IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE: ICE), reached48,884 contracts today, or more than 24% of overall daily volume in those products. The new highreplaces two previous record days of electronic soft commodity trading at NYBOT from yesterday,February 5 (24,063 contracts, approximately 18% of daily volume) and Friday, February 2 (13,164contracts, and approximately 11% of daily volume).
