Standard & Poor's Announces The S&P Canadian Bond Index Rebalancing Report For September 2007

Standard & Poor's has completed the monthly rebalancing of the S&P Canadian Bond Index. According to index methodology, the universe of Canadian bonds is exhaustively reviewed to reflect changes in par amount and term to existing index constituents. Qualifying new issues are added to the index and existing constituents that no longer meet the criteria for inclusion are removed.

Seven Credit Rating Agencies Register with SEC as Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organizations

The Securities and Exchange Commission issued orders today granting the registrations of seven credit rating agencies as nationally recognized statistical rating organizations (“NRSRO”). The firms are the first to be registered with the Commission under the Credit Rating Agency Reform Act of 2006.

Securities And Exchange Commission, Board Of Governors Of The Federal Reserve System: Agencies Adopt Final Rules To Implement The Bank 'Broker' Provisions Of The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board) on Monday announced the adoption of final joint rules to implement the "broker" exceptions for banks under Section 3(a)(4) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. These exceptions were adopted as part of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 (GLB Act). The SEC and the Board approved the final rules at separate open meetings held on September 19, 2007, and September 24, 2007, respectively.

SEC Charges Two With Securities Fraud In $4.4 Million Market Manipulation And Kickback Case - Guilty Plea Entered In Parallel Criminal Case

The Securities and Exchange Commission today filed a settled enforcement action against Florida residents Paul Harary and Douglas Zemsky for their involvement in an alleged $4.4 million market manipulation and kickback scheme that defrauded customers of a Boca Raton brokerage firm.

Brazilian Mercantile & Futures Exchange (BM&F): 44.9 Million Contracts In August

The Brazilian Mercantile & Futures Exchange ended the month of August with 44.94 million contracts traded. During the same period last year, the traded volume was 26.02 million contracts. The markets with the best performance in August were Bovespa Index, Dollar, and Interest Rate futures. Bovespa Index traded 3.48 million contracts, in comparison to 1.63 million contracts traded in August 2006.
