Eurex Trades Over 132 Million Contracts In January - 12 Percent Growth Of Traded Contracts Year On Year - Strongest Growth In Single Stock Futures

The international derivatives exchange Eurex reported today that it traded a total of 132 million contracts in January, up 12 percent year on year. Approximately 6 million contracts per day were traded in January. Open interest – the number of open positions is an important indicator of future growth – continued to grow and totaled around 108 million contracts at the end of the month (January 2006: 100 million contracts).

Deutsche Börse: 537 Billion In Turnover On Stock Exchanges In January - Xetra Transactions Up Considerably

Based on the total turnover statistics, a total volume of €536.8 billion was traded on all stock exchanges in Germany in January 2007 – a rise of 23 percent year-on-year (January 2006: €435 billion). This total included €501.3 billion in equities, warrants and exchange-traded funds, as well as €35.5 billion in fixed-income securities.

Feed Grain Volume Propels WCE To 20th Consecutive Month Of Increased Volume

Total volume of trade on Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc. (WCE) for January 2007 rose 9.6% from a year ago with 238,161 futures and options contracts being traded. This is the 20th consecutive month of increased total volume on WCE when compared to the same month of the previous year.

Dow Jones Indexes Licenses 11 Indexes To Underlie Leveraged And Inverse Exchange-Traded Funds

Dow Jones Indexes, a leading global index provider, today announced that 11 Dow Jones U.S. Sector Indexes have been licensed to ProShares Trust and its affiliates to serve as the basis of 22 leveraged and inverse exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The ETFs launched today on the American Stock Exchange.

Record Membership Sale, Increased Volume Gives Minneapolis Grain Exchange Strong Start To 2007

A Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX or Exchange) membership sold this morning at a record price of $75,000, a 250-percent increase over this time last year when a membership sold for $30,000. Additionally, 65 memberships turned over in 2006 compared to only 16 in 2005.
