Trading Volumes: July was the sixth consecutive month to average over 20 million tonnes through the Exchange per day – Average Daily Volume for 2009 stands at 21.3 Mt. Total traded volume for July was 470,914 contracts. Year-to-date volumes amounted to 3.2 billion tonnes of EUAs and CERs, surpassing last year’s total of 2.8 billion tonnes. Share Trading in July The value of average daily share trading amounted to EUR 1.7 billion, as compared to EUR 2.5 billion during the past 12-month period. The average number of trades per business day amounted to 159,805, as compared to 219,895 during the past 12-month period. The total market cap of listed companies at NASDAQ OMX Nordic Exchange amounted to EUR 542 billion, compared to EUR 693 billion in July 2008.

The number of shares traded increased by 10% from July 2008 to 11.7 billion and is the highest monthly figure in 2009. The Derivatives Market traded 10.4 million contracts in July, up 28% from the same month last year. Highlights include Options on Stocks, with 2.1 million contracts traded, up 65% from the same period a year earlier. Trading volume on the Corporate Debt market to the end of July exceeded that for the entire year 2008.

NYSE Liffe To Extend AEX Index Futures Opening Hours - Contract Can Now Be Traded Throughout The US Trading Day

NYSE Liffe, the Europe-based derivatives business of NYSE Euronext (NYX), has announced that it will extend trading hours in its AEX index futures contract from the current close of 11.15hrs until 15.00hrs Chicago time, with immediate effect, enabling US-based customers to trade the contract throughout their normal working day.
