In advance of next week's Federal Open Market Committee meeting on June 25, the Chicago Board of Trade will be reporting daily rate change probabilities in the FOMC's federal funds target rate, as indicated by the CBOT® 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract. The CBOT 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is a key benchmark interest rate barometer that reflects the forward overnight effective rate for excess reserves that are traded among commercial banks in the U.S. federal funds market.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today praised House and Senate leaders for expediting passage of H.S. 658 the Accountant, Compliance, and Enforcement Staffing Act of 2003, which will greatly streamline the Commission's efforts to add more than 800 lawyers, accountants, economists and examiners to its staff.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange's S&P 500® options set an open interest record of 459,777 positions yesterday, June 19. The previous record was 459,676 positions, set on Sept. 17, 1998.

SEC: Susan Markel Named Chief Accountant Of The Division Of Enforcement

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced the selection of Susan G. Markel as Chief Accountant of the Division of Enforcement. Ms. Markel succeeds Charles D. Niemeier, who was appointed in late 2002 as a member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. As Chief Accountant, Ms. Markel will serve as a senior official in the Division of Enforcement and will advise the Division on investigations involving accounting and auditing matters.
