Congressman Vito Fossella (R-NY13) today urged Congress to reject a proposal in the Administration’s Fiscal Year 2009 budget that would impose a new tax on futures transactions cleared by a derivatives clearing organization that is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

SIFMA Releases Its Third Annual European Fixed Income E-Trading Survey Results

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) today announced the results of its Third Annual European Fixed Income e-Trading Survey. Despite the credit crisis, market participants reported an increase in fixed income e-trading volumes in 2007 with 53 percent of buy-side respondents reporting that they were trading more than 60 percent of their fixed income volumes electronically.
