CESR Contributes To The Evaluation Of The Lamfalussy Procedure, And Publishes Its Proposal For Evolution Of EU Securities Supervision Beyong 2007

By the end of 2007, the EU will carry out a full review of the Lamfalussy approach for the regulation of European Securities Markets. Within this context, CESR has contributed with several reports showing significant achievements outlining that in six years the EU has very successfully delivered the legal framework necessary to create a genuine single market for financial services.

Wiener Börse Ends Prime Market Agreement With Meinl European Land Ltd.

Wiener Börse AG has terminated its Prime Market contract with Meinl European Land Ltd. (MEL). In the opinion of Wiener Börse, MEL has acted against the interests of the prime market and its participants by failing to disclose sufficient information. To give MEL the chance of an orderly retreat from the prime market, the securities will be switched to the market segment “ standard market continuous” as of the end of the next trading day in options and financial futures contracts, i.e., 21 Dec

Tokyo Commodity Exchange: Modification Of Rules & Regulations Following Extension Of Trading Hours

The current trading sessions at TOCOM are from 9:00 to 11:00 for the morning session and from 12:30 to 15:30 for the afternoon session. The Exchange will extend its trading hours by two hours, with a closing time for the afternoon session at 17:30 instead of 15:30. The Exchange has received approval from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to modify its Market Rules and Brokerage Rules accordingly. The said modifications will be implemented on and after January 7th, 2008.

BEST Brazil Ends 2007 With 739 Participants And 9 Destinations

The Brazilian Mercantile & Futures Exchange (BM&F), the São Paulo Stock Exchange (BOVESPA), the Brazilian Clearing and Depository Corporation (CBLC) and the National Association of Investment Banks (ANBID) promoted the Asian edition of BEST Brazil on the 6th, 8th, and 9th of November 2007. This year, in addition to Singapore and Hong Kong, the event was also held in Tokyo.
