London Metal Exchange Announces Record Half Year Trading Volumes

The London Metal Exchange (LME) announces record trading volumes for the first half of 2008. Over 54 million lots traded on the Exchange from January to the end of June across Futures and Options. This represents an increase of 17.5% on 2007 figures, and a turnover of $5.6 trillion in notional value.
The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Monthly Statistical Report June 2008

Listing Total number of listed companies on EGX in June 2008 increased to 375 companies as opposed to 372 in the previous month. There were six new listed companies this month, with a total capitalization of US$ 485 million (LE 2,606 million).

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) Registrars Group are urging UK listed companies to help protect their shareholders from boiler rooms by sending them warnings about the scam.

Eurex Appoints New Member Of The Board Of Directors

The shareholders of Eurex Zürich AG elected Dr Urs Rüegsegger as member of the Board of Directors during the Extraordinary General Meeting on 26 June 2008. Urs Rüegsegger will replace Dr. Heinrich Henckel, who has resigned from the Board of Directors, with effect from 1 August 2008. He has been appointed member of the Board for three years. Urs Rüegsegger has also been elected to the Supervisory Boards of Eurex Frankfurt AG and Eurex Clearing AG for a period of five years.
Clearstream’s Activity Figures For June 2008: International Bond Business Continues To Grow

In June 2008, the value of assets under custody on behalf of customers registered a 1 percent rise at € 10.7 trillion (compared to € 10.6 trillion from June 2007). Securities held under custody in Clearstream’s international business experienced a rise of 6 percent from €4.8 to € 5.1 trillion and domestic German securities held under custody decreased slightly by 3 percent from € 5.8 trillion to € 5.6 trillion.
