  • SWX Reports Successful Stock Market Debut Of Actelion

    Actelion Ltd, ninth company to list on SWX New Market, opens 92% above offering price. The shares of Actelion Ltd., a bio-pharmaceutical company, were traded today for the first time on the SWX New Market. The offering price was set Wendsday night at CHF 260. At the start of trading on SWX, the stock stood 92% above that level at CHF 500, representing a total market capitalization for the company of CHF 2,4 billion.

  • PHLX Equity and Options Post Record Breaking Volume

    The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that volume in PHLX's 950 equity options for the month of March 2000 reached an all-time record of 5,450,551 contracts traded, surpassing by 19% the previous record volume month set in January 2000 when 4,581,850 contracts changed hands. In addition, during the first three months of 2000, PHLX traded a record 14,296,839 equity option contracts, an increase of 26% in comparison to the same period last year.

The data indicated that during March 27 - 31, program trading amounted to 23.9 percent of NYSE average daily volume of 1068.2 million shares, or 255.3 million shares a day.
