KCBT Wheat Options Volume Sets New Record For Month Of March

Trading volume at the Kansas City Board of Trade continued to set records in the wheat options contract. Previously, the most volume traded during any given March was 17,398 contracts, which was in 2000. In March 2001 trading volume was 22,658 contracts, an increase of 30.2 percent. Wheat options volume also increased 63.2 percent when compared to February 2001.

On Monday, 2 April 2001, the composition of the Baltic List will change as Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian stock exchanges approved changes to the Baltic List. Ekranas, admitted to the list of Baltic blue-chip securities, will replace Latvijas Unibanka, delisted from Riga Stock Exchange.

Four weeks after the launch of electricity futures trading, EEX has given a positive assessment of the activity in this market. Since the launch on March 1, roughly 1.32 million megawatt hours (MWh) have been traded in the futures market, that is 3,445 contracts. Of this total, about 75 percent (2,539 contracts) were traded on peak-load blocks and 25 percent (906 contracts) on base-load blocks. The average daily volume traded in the futures market is about 60,000 MWh, or roughly 160 contracts.

Trading volume on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) in the first quarter was the highest in exchange history, as 92.7 million contracts changed hands. 483 Billion Euros In Turnover On The German Stock Exchanges In March - Xetra Record In DAX And MDAX Stocks

A total volume of 483.1 billion euros was traded on the German stock exchanges in March, about 26 percent higher than in February. The March total comprises some 365.3 billion euros in equities, warrants and exchange-traded funds and about 118 billion euros in fixed-income securities. Roughly 89 percent of the volume traded in equities nationwide was posted in trading on Xetra and the floor of FWB, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
