  • Copenhagen Stock Exchange: Share Turnover During The First Six Months Of 2002 Exceeded The Six Previous Months Considerably

    In the first six months of the year, share trading amounted to DKK 235 billion in market value, a rise of 17 per cent compared with the second half of 2001. The value of average daily trading totalled DKK 1.9 billion from January to June 2002, up from DKK 1.6 billion in the period from July to December 2001.

    The market surrendered its gains of the last week by shedding 40 points (1.6%) to end at 2500. The main culprit was the big cap, Barclays, which shed 75t (4.4%) to close at 1620t. Sechaba was the other dampener, dipping 20t to 800t as the last day to register for the dividend passed. Mid cap RPC Data lost 10t to close at 135t, ahead of their results expected in the near future.

  • Stock Exchange Of Thailand Study Reveals Par Value Reduction Helps Increase Liquidity And Shares Prices

    From the beginning of 2000 to May 2002, twenty-eight listed companies had already reduced the par value of their shares and it was found that this improved liquidity helped increase the attractiveness of their securities. Share prices after the announcement of the par value reduction rose 5% on average and, more importantly, trading activities and liquidity of shares increased.
