Trade at the 12 Arab stock markets covered by the Arab Monetary Fund surged by 50 per cent to USD12.8bn in the first quarter, reported the latest AMF bulletin. Turnover in Saudi Arabia was up the most, and 80 per cent higher. These figures seem to show that Arab money is being invested in Arabia, and may indicate a repatriation of funds from overseas in the wake of September 11.

Open interest in stock index products traded on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) set a new record of 1,615,399 positions yesterday, June 13. Volume was boosted by record open interest of 278,499 positions in E-mini™ S&P 500 futures and record open interest of 244,490 positions in E-mini Nasdaq-100 futures.

CFTC Recognizes New Exchange For Single-Stock Futures

On June 11, 2002, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) granted contract market designation to OneChicago, LLC Futures Exchange, (OneChicago).
