    The Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) summary letter of The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc.'s application for exchange status was published yesterday in the Federal Register. Nasdaq's application for exchange status was submitted to the SEC on November 9, 2000. The SEC is providing for a 45-day public comment period, which began yesterday and will enable interested parties to submit their comments.

  • CME Open Interest Continues Record Rise

    One day after first surpassing 14 million positions, open interest on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) again rose to a new high of 14,097,434 after the close of trading yesterday, June 13. New open interest records were also set in Eurodollar futures and options, S&P 500 futures, E-mini Nasdaq-100 futures, Euro FX futures and Russell 2000 futures.

  • CBOE Announces Record Volume In Options On Ishares SM S&P 100® Index Fund (OEF)

    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that for a second time this week, a single-day volume record for trading options on iSharesSM S&P 100® Index Fund (ticker symbol OEF) was established. On Thursday, June 14 a total of 46,518 contracts (46,514 calls and 4 puts) traded, topping the previous record of 26,275 contracts, which was set on Monday June 11, 2001. Total open interest in OEF options stood at 40,019 contracts at the close of trading yesterday.

    From June 18,2001 on, the shares of the company Dexia will be split into 10. Following this operation, the number of Dexia shares in the BEL20 Index will rise from 561 shares (before the split) to 5610 shares (after the split).

  • IPE Gas Oil Futures Set New Daily Record

    IPE Gas Oil futures reached a new daily record high on Tuesday 12 June 2001. The contract traded 60,639 lots, substantially beating the previous record set on 4 August 1999 when 57,778 lots were traded. This is equivalent to more than 6 million tonnes of gas oil.

    Equity trading at Euronext Paris averaged EUR 5.2 billion a day in May, up from EUR 4.98 billion in the previous month. The total for the 22 trading days in May was EUR 114.43 billion.
