CME's GLOBEX® Marks One Million Milestone

Less than two weeks before its 10th anniversary on June 25, the GLOBEX® electronic trading platform of Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) exceeded one million contracts traded for the first time in a single day yesterday, June 12. The 1,028,191 contracts traded represented a 9 percent increase from the previous daily record of 943,953 contracts set on June 4.

(CME) today announced that at 5:30 p.m. Central time on Sunday, July 14 (trade date July 15), it will implement its "Eagle Project" release, the most advanced technology to date on its GLOBEX® electronic trading platform. The Eagle facility will make it possible for the first time to trade calendar spreads electronically on GLOBEX, providing functionality that previously was available only through open outcry execution.
