Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Chicago Board Of Trade Settle Wagner Patent Litigation

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) today announced that they have reached a settlement agreement to resolve the litigation with eSpeed, Inc. (Nasdaq: ESPD), a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald. The litigation is related to the Wagner patent on automated futures trading systems (United States patent No. 4,903,201).

CBOT® Re-Appoints Weems As Non-Member Director

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) yesterday announced the re-appointment of Ralph W. Weems, a past Chairman and President of the American Soybean Association (ASA) and longtime soybean farmer, as a non-member Public Director of the exchange. Weems will serve in this position on an interim basis, pending the next CBOT annual election.

TSX Remembers Victims Of September 11th

On Wednesday, September 11th, 2002 the TSX Group will hold a brief remembrance ceremony in Stock Market Place for the 25 Canadians who were reported dead following the terrorist attacks on New York City & Washington last year. Many of these Canadians were employed in the financial sector.

The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), and TSX Venture Exchange (TSX-VEN) will be closed on Monday September 2, 2002, for Labour Day. This closure also includes the TSX Group's Toronto headquarters, division offices in Calgary, Winnipeg and Vancouver, Montreal, as well as the national call centre in Montreal.
