  • Boston Stock Exchange Posts Strong Volume Numbers For The First Six Months of FY2001 - Announces Second Quarter Results

    The Boston Stock Exchange (BSE) announced today volume results for the first half of fiscal year 2001. Average share volume rose from 22.2 to 25.4 million shares per day, an increase of 14% compared to the same period in fiscal year 2000. Average daily trade volume reached 54,259 trades, an increase of 3% compared to 52,663 trades per day in the first six months of fiscal year 2000.

Oct 01 feed wheat prices are also trading at levels significantly above year-ago prices. Year-ago feed wheat futures prices for purposes of comparison have been adjusted (as explained below) to approximate the recent changes in the feed wheat contract.

    Daily volume on The Nasdaq Stock Market® averaged a record 2.1 billion shares in the first quarter of this year, a 15.8 percent increase from 1.8 billion shares in the first quarter of 2000, and a 2.9 percent gain from 2.03 billion shares in the fourth quarter last year. Twenty-two of the 50 heaviest trading days ever on Nasdaq® occurred in the first quarter of 2001. Nasdaq experienced its most active single session in the first quarter, when 3.18 billion shares were traded on January 31, 2001.
