Copenhagen Stock Exchange: The Final KBX Portfolio Has Been Selected

The future KBX portfolio will hold 66 shares as against 63 today. The Copenhagen Stock Exchange calculates both price and performance indices on the KBX portfolio, and a capped version is also calculated. The final portfolio is identical to the preliminary portfolio, which we announced on 5 December 2003.

The future KFX active portfolio has been selected as regards the number of shares per constituent share class. The new KFX portfolio becomes effective on 22 December 2003 and will be identical to the existing KFX portfolio.
CME To Increase Order Entry Quantity Limits For GLOBEX® Equity Index Trades - Order Size To Increase From 250 To 400 Contracts

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) announced it will increase its order quantity limit on all electronically traded equity index futures contracts to 400 contracts from the current 250 contracts. The new order size cap will become effective Feb. 1, 2004 for trades dated Feb. 2, 2004.
American Stock Exchange Reports Increase In Short Interest

The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 836,854,201 shares as of the December 15 settlement date, an increase of 32,883,121 from the 803,971,080(adjusted) shares reported in mid-November. The December figure represents trades through December 10, 2003.
Transiciel Removed From Next 150 Index, Cerep Continues To Be Included In Next 150 Index

New composition of Next 150 Index Following the official result of the takeover bid by the French company Cap Gemini (France) (Next 100) for the French company Transiciel (Next 150), Transiciel will be removed from the Next 150 Index effective Tuesday 23 December 2003.

The Copenhagen Stock Exchange now publishes the 'Guidelines for the adjustment of capped indices', which supplement the common Nordic rules which are described in: 'Rules for the Construction and Maintenance of the NOREX Exchanges All-Share, Sector and Benchmark Indices'.

For the past several weeks, my office and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have been negotiating a settlement with Alliance Capital Management. My office has now reached a settlement that requires Alliance to pay restitution and penalties of $250 million and that also requires Alliance to reduce the fees that it charges by $350 million over the next five years.
