(China, SEDOL: 6797481, GICS: Information Technology, GICS Code: 45102010), a member of the S&P/CITIC 300 Index, free-float A shares will increase by 20,610,720 to 89,313,120. This change is due to the successful completion of a rights issue. There will also be a change to the IWF.

Securities And Exchange Commission Reopens Comment Period On Rule Proposal Regarding Full Service Brokers That Charge Asset-Based Fees

The Securities and Exchange Commission today reopened the public comment period on a proposed rule, originally proposed on Nov. 4, 1999, to address the application of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 (Advisers Act) to brokers offering full service brokerage service, including advice, for a fee based on the amount of assets in customers' accounts, instead of traditional commissions, mark-ups and mark-downs.

SEC: Cynthia Fornelli, Deputy Director Of The Division Of Investment Management, To Leave Commission

Cynthia M. Fornelli, Deputy Director of the Division of Investment Management, announced today that she will leave the Commission in September to join Bank of America in Charlotte, North Carolina. Fornelli, who joined the Commission staff in June of 1999, will fill the new role of Senior Vice President and Compliance Executive for Securities Regulation and Conflicts Management. In that role, she will be responsible for addressing potential conflicts that can arise within the bank.

S&P Emerging Markets Database Index Announcement: India - Deletion Of Global Trust Bank From Index Coverage (Eff. 08/27/04)

S&P EMDB will remove Global Trust Bank (SPID 534282.1 / Sedol 6135854) from S&P/IFCG Index coverage, effective August 27, 2004. The company’s shares will be delisted from the Mumbai Stock Exchange. The company is being acquired by Oriental Bank of Commerce, an S&P/IFCG and S&P/IFCI constituent, in an all-cash deal.
