  • American Stock Exchange Reports Increase In Short Interest

    The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 850,069,836 shares as of the September 15, 2005 settlement date, an increase of 47,952,670 from the 802,117,166 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-August. The September figure represents trades through September 12, 2005.

  • 20 Market Makers Signed Up To Participate In Eurex FX Market - Nandapurkar: Significant Backing From Market Makers, Strong Industry Support

    Eurex, the world's largest derivatives exchange, today announced that a total of 20 market makers have signed on to provide liquidity when trading commences in foreign exchange (FX) futures on September 23, 2005, on Eurex US. An additional eight firms have agreed to act as Early Volume Adopters (EVAs), providing a consistent amount of volume each day.

    The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has fined a small independent financial adviser firm, CFS Independent Ltd, £25,000 for serious systems & controls, risk management and compliance failures. CFS Independent Ltd expanded its IFA business in November 2002 by taking on discretionary investment management activity, at which time it had 50 clients with an estimated £8 million under management.
