HKFE Panel Sees Three-month HIBOR Rising

The Hong Kong Futures Exchange's (HKFE) panel of forecasters from 10 banks predicts that with the demand for interbank funds likely to rise in the next few months due to further expansion of the local economy, the three-month Hong Kong interbank offered rate (HIBOR) will be higher on 16 October compared to its 15 August level. RDCP reported weak interim results for the six months to 30th June 2000. Total turnover remained flat at P5.326m with earnings down 5.8% to P1.150m. Dividends though were 8.3% higher at 8.755t per share.

Anders Reveman will take up the position as Senior Vice President at the OM group. His position will be to lead OM’s strategic development. Anders Reveman, who is 56 years old, has been working as CEO of VPC (the Swedish Central Securities Depository) for the past eight years.

SGX Statement: Suspension Of Trading In Shares Of Links Island Holding Ltd ("Links Island")

SGX is conducting inquiries to determine whether a corner situation has arisen in the counter. Deutsche Börse is implementing the next version of Xetra, Release 5.0, as of October 2, 2000. The main new features are the extended possibilities for trading on Xetra, multi-exchange capability as well as an additional functionality for warrants trading.

MEFF Sees 26.7% Increase In Trading Volumes For Six Months To June 2000

Trading activity in the first half of 2000 has been particularly string in stock options, recording a year on year increase of 160%. Whilst trading on IBEX 35 futures fell 18%, the volume of options on the same contract rose by 28%. The fall in trading on the 10 year Bono has been partially offset by Member activity through EuroMEFF on the Bund, Bobl, Schatz and Euro Notionnel contracts.

New international data dissemination principles and new technology, such as the Internet, have made it necessary to revise the current principles and pricing for data dissemination by the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. The revision is in line with the findings of the JSE’s current strategic review and its intention to align its practices with international standards.
