The leading stock exchange index SBI20 has reached its record history value on Thursday, 6 September 2001. It climbed to 2,028.06 points and thus exceeded its previous record-breaking 2,026.47 points on August 10, 1998.

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) has announced that it will launch four new equity options on stock in Amvescap plc, BHP Billiton plc, Reckitt Benckiser plc and WPP Group plc on Monday 24 September 2001.
