Program Trading Averaged 19.8 Percent of NYSE Volume During Feb. 22-25

The New York Stock Exchange today released its weekly program-trading data submitted by its member firms. The report includes trading in all markets as reported to the NYSE for Feb. 22-25. The data indicated that during Feb. 22-25, program trading amounted to 19.8 percent of NYSE average daily volume of 1,063.4 million shares, or 211.0 million shares a day.

OM's Trading System Ready For Production On The International Securities Exchange

OM Technology has received full acceptance of its delivery of an electronic trading system, OM CLICK, to the International Securities Exchange (ISE) in the USA. On Thursday, February 24, the ISE also received its exchange approval from the US supervisory authority, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This will mean that when the ISE opens its doors for business on May 26 it will be the first new securities exchange to be opened in the USA for 27 years.

The dollar value of trading on Nasdaq® was $11.0 trillion for 1999-up 90 percent from the previous record of $5.8 trillion in 1998 making Nasdaq the World's biggest stock market by dollar value traded.

LIFFE February Volume Up 16% On January

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) traded an average daily nominal value of £234 billion (374 billion) in February 2000, a rise of 7% on January's figure and up 19% on the average daily nominal value for 1999 as a whole.

FUTOP Clearing Centre Launches New 5-year Benchmark

The FUTOP Clearing Centre launches futures on the government bond 5% 2005 in connection with the replacement of the 5-year benchmark 5% 2005 by the 7% 2004. CME Announces E-Mini Lean Hog Contracts

The Board of Directors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) yesterday approved the listing of an "E-mini" lean hog contract-the first traditional agricultural commodity to be traded on the CME's GLOBEX®2 electronic trading system.

CBOT'S February Volume At 25,369,025 Contracts--Second Highest February Total In Exchange History

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today trading volume of 25,369,025 contracts for February 2000, up 11.2% from January 2000. February volume was the second highest February total in exchange history.

CBOE Volume Continues To Climb In February

Total exchange-wide volume at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) reached 27,105,120 contracts (18,000,968 calls and 9,104,152 puts) in February representing an increase of 74% over year ago levels. Exchange-wide open interest was 94% higher than the close of February last year, standing at 37,083,375 contracts (22,037,393 calls and 15,045,982 puts) at month's end. Amsterdam Exchanges Doubles The Volume Of Share Trading In February

It was unprecedentedly busy at Beursplein 5 in February. While premium turnover on options and futures soared by 72% against February 1999, the volume of trading on the share market actually more than doubled. The stock exchange systems accommodated a biggest-ever turnover of ? 135 billion in the month of February. One important factor encouraging the surge of activity by investors appears to be the steep price rises, especially in the IT sector.
