Tokyo Stock Exchange And American Stock Exchange Announce Strategic Alliance On Exchange Traded Funds.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), the premiere exchange in Japan, and the American Stock Exchange(R) (AMEX(R)), the global leader and pioneer in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) signed a memorandum of understanding today establishing a strategic alliance for the cross listing and trading of U.S. and Japanese ETFs.

The Nasdaq Japan Market today celebrates its first year anniversary of trading. Since its debut one year ago with eight listed companies, Nasdaq Japan has facilitated the capital raising efforts of Japanese companies and offered investors a global, transparent and efficient market. Today, 56 companies representing a broad cross section of industries including software, retail, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and multimedia have listed their issues on the Nasdaq Japan Market.

The Central Bank Of Iceland Auctions Repurchase Agreements For 23.9 Billion Krónur

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on June 19 of the maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.9 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 23.9 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

CBOT: Extended Dow Trading Enhances Price Discovery, Trading Opps.

Dow SM Jones & Co. announced on May 31, 2001, that it would extend the real-time calculation of the DJIA SM to 13 hours a day beginning in September 2001. The first 6.5 hours of calculation will be "indicative," based on actual trades of the 30 DJIA SM component stocks on Xetra, an electronic trading platform of the German stock exchange.

Stock Exchange of Thailand To Change Base For Calculating SET Index On 1 July

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will adjust the base index value of the SET Index from 1 July 2001 onwards. Also, in order to more accurately reflect market conditions, any stocks that have been suspended from trading for over one year will not be included in the index calculation.
