The S&P/TSX Canadian Index Policy Committee has determined that financial instruments structured as "Mutual Fund Corporations" will not qualify for inclusion in the S&P/TSX Composite Index. While many information vendors in the Canadian market were able to process information on the S&P/TSX Composite index this morning, several vendors experienced problems. Changes to this index were previously announced January 30, 2002.

SEC Sets Investor Summit, Invites Public Participation

Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Harvey L. Pitt today announced the date and format for the SEC's first-ever Investor Summit. The summit will be held in-and webcast from-Washington, D.C. on Friday, May 10, offering individual investors nationwide an opportunity to ask questions and offer comments about the SEC's regulatory agenda in the wake of recent events.

KCBT Exchange, Wheat Futures, Wheat Options Set New Monthly Records

The Kansas City Board of Trade saw a large increase in trading volume during the month of April. Several new monthly records were set as a result. The exchange as a whole set a new monthly record for April as 277,205 contracts traded, breaking the previous record of 242,115, which was set in 1997, by 14.5 percent.

April Volume: CME Posts Best April Volume On Record And Third Busiest In Month In History

Trading volume on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) posted its third busiest month ever and best April on record, with more than 43.7 million futures and options on futures contracts traded, up 38 percent from April 2001. Year-to-date volume totaled 164.2 million contracts, an increase of 32 percent over 2001. The underlying value of the contracts traded in April totaled $31.4 trillion.
