Goldman Sachs Commodity Index (GSCI®) To Include CME Feeder Cattle in 2002 Index Weighting

Goldman Sachs Inc. will include Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc.'s (CME) feeder cattle futures contract in the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index (GSCI®) beginning with its 2002 weighting, CME has announced. Feeder cattle will be included in the February 2002 GSCI contract to be listed for trading on CME on Nov. 16, 2001.

Euronext NV Announces Acquisition Of Shares In LIFFE (Holdings) Plc

Euronext NV has acquired 2,198,470 shares in LIFFE (Holdings) plc ("LIFFE") at a price of £18.25 per share and accordingly now holds shares and rights over shares representing approximately 51 per cent. of the current issued share capital, and (assuming the exercise by Enterprise Partners Limited of its warrant to subscribe LIFFE shares) approximately 58 per cent. of the enlarged share capital of LIFFE.

Euronext N.V. October Monthly Trading Update - Equity Trading Eases Slightly - Derivatives Trading Up 61.9%

Equities And ETFs Trade Volumes Ease In October Equity trading through Euronext NV's orderbooks totalled €137.9 billion in October 2001, down 8.7% from September. The year-on-year decline was 11.1%, from €155.19 billion in October 2001. In the first ten months, daily trading on Euronext averaged €6.68 billion, up 0.2% from €6.67 billion in the same period of 2000.

Deutsche Börse: Dutch Segment Starts November 12. "Xetra Dutch Stars" Tradable With Round Lot Of One/Eurex Already Successful In Trading Of Dutch Equity Options/Trading Fees Waived Until April

Deutsche Börse will initiate trading in Dutch equities on Xetra on November 12. The new segment will contain all seven Dutch stocks in the Dow Jones Euro STOXX 50 index, the so-called "Xetra Dutch Stars": ABN Amro Holding NV, AEGON NV, Koninklijke Ahold NV, ING Groep NV, Philips Electronics, Royal Dutch Petroleum and Unilever NV. After the US segment, the Dutch segment is the second market that Deutsche Börse and Eurex are setting up within the framework of the Global Markets Concept. E

Peter H. Bresnan Named Deputy Chief Litigation Counsel Of The SEC's Division Of Enforcement

The Securities and Exchange Commission today named Peter H. Bresnan Deputy Chief Litigation Counsel of the Commission's Division of Enforcement. As Deputy Chief Litigation Counsel, Mr. Bresnan will assist in supervising the Division's nationwide litigation program. Mr. Bresnan succeeds Stephen J. Crimmins, who left the Commission in July.
