Clearstream Sees Further Growth In February 2005

Clearstream experienced further growth in its core businesses and new business streams in February 2005. The value of assets held in custody on behalf of customers rose to approximately EUR 7.7 trillion, a rise of 2.3 percent from the same month last year. The Securities Industry Association today called on the Securities and Exchange Commission to focus its efforts at self-regulatory reform on preserving the key benefits of self-regulation, while addressing its shortcomings. In a comment letter filed today on the SEC’s SRO Governance and Transparency Proposal and SRO Concept Release, SIA made several specific recommendations for enhancing and improving self-regulation.
