    At an open meeting today the Securities and Exchange Commission adopted rules that will improve disclosure to investors regarding the nominating committee processes of public companies and the ways by which security holders may communicate with directors at the companies in which they invest.   • Philadelphia Stock Exchange Seat Owners Vote To Demutualize

    The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Inc. (PHLX), which has been pursuing a plan of demutualization - under which it will convert from a membership-owned institution to a shareholder-owned corporation - announced today that equitable titleholders, or seat owners, voted yesterday to approve the plan 330 to 59, a margin of 85% to 15%, with 80% of the seats voted.

  • NYSE Announces Membership Vote Results On Governance Proposals And Slate of Directors

    Certified results from yesterday's membership vote indicate that of 1,136 valid proxies and ballots received, 1,112 votes-almost 98%-were cast in favor of amendments to the NYSE Constitution. There were seven votes-less than 1%-cast against and 17 abstentions.

  • Minneapolis Grain Exchange Set To Launch New Wheat Index Contracts

    The Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX) announced today that the MGEX board of directors has approved rules and regulations for Soft Red Wheat Index (SRI) and Hard Spring Wheat Index (SWI) futures and options. Pending ownership approval, the contracts are scheduled to launch December 19, 2003 on the exchange's electronic trading platform, MGEXpress®.
