  • CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE) To Open For Trading; VIX Futures To Debut

    The CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE), today announced that it plans to open for trading on Friday, March 26, 2004, pending final regulatory approval. CFE will begin trading futures contracts on the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), offering an all-electronic, open access market model, with traders providing liquidity and making markets.

    The CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) today announced that it will list two Variance Futures contracts. The new contracts are the CBOE S&P 500 One-month Variance and the S&P 500 Three-month Variance Futures (symbols VO and VT). The new contracts will be based on the realized variance of the S&P 500 Index. Variance Futures will be the next products to be listed on the newly formed CBOE Futures Exchange, and are expected to launch in the second quarter of 2004. CFE previously announced the listing

  • American Stock Exchange Reports Increase In Short Interest

    The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 955,673,957 shares as of the March 15 settlement date, an increase of 72,223,184 from the 883,450,773 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-February. The March figure represents trades through March 10, 2004.

  • UK's Financial Services Authority Statement On Market Timing

    The Financial Services Authority's investigation into market timing has found no evidence of illegal, late trading but has found some evidence of market timing in UK authorised collective investment schemes (CIS). Market timing does not appear to have been a major source of detriment to long term investors.
