LATIBEX, the Euro Market for Latin American Companies, have launched a new index called FTSE Latibex TOP. The index will be disseminated in real time from February 23th. FTSE Latibex TOP is the first negotiable index for euro-denominated Latin American equities and will be made up of the 15 most capitalised and liquid stocks in LATIBEX.

FTSE Group And Dow Jones Announce Industry Classification System

FTSE Group and Dow Jones Indexes will be merging their industry classification systems to create a single definitive system covering corporate bonds and over 50,000 equities worldwide. It will be known as the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB), and will be implemented by the end of 2004.

Dow Jones Indexes And FTSE Group To Merge Industry-Classification Systems

Dow Jones Indexes and FTSE Group, two of the world's most successful index providers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding today to merge their industry-classification systems to create a single, seamless structure covering equities and corporate bonds world-wide. The new system will be known as the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB), and will cover 50,000 companies worldwide. It is expected to take effect by the end of 2004.

Deutsche Börse AG ended the year 2003 with record results again. Preliminary figures, released by the company on Thursday, show that sales including net interest income from banking business rose 29 percent from 1.17 billion euros in 2002 to 1.51 billion euros in 2003. The company's EBIT increased 29 percent from 351.2 million euros in 2002 to 452.6 million euros in 2003. Net profits rose 5 percent from 235.1 million euros in 2002 to 246.3 million euros to 2003.
